Background

The Murray River affects the livelihood and well-being of millions of Australians, both urban and rural dwellers. With recent climate change Murray River become more contaminates with elevated level of turbidity and colloidal suspended solids. The client (Think Water for KSK Moama Resort, Echuca, NSW) required to use the Murray River as a source of water to supply drinking water to the resort. Amiad have supplied a solution to comply with client’s requirement and meeting Australian drinking water guidelines.

Challenge

Think Water employed the services of Amiad to ensure quality water treatment plant is delivered on time, meet requirements and budget. Amiad has to design, manufacture and deliver 22 kLD WTP skid system.

Solution

Amiad designed, manufactured, constructed, delivered and commissioned the Potable water treatment plant. Water is pumped from the Murray River into a lagoon, pre-treatment via 130 mic screen filter (M100 Filtomat series). Then water is pumped to the Amiad Water treatment plant which consist of, primary Multi-Media filter followed by coagulation, Multi-Media Filter, Cartridge filter, UV, Granular Activated Carbon, Chlorination. The water is then stored in a clean water storage tank. Each media vessel backwash with the filtered water from the clean water storage tank using backwash pump. Backwash is initiated by time, pressure differential across the system or manually. The Plant was provided with a PLC and HMI screen and designed to provide fully automatic operation.

Results

The water treatment plant delivers treated water that complies and in certain cases exceed the Australian drinking water guidelines.
